Abstract

Food processing is a new wave among the industrial sector as 70 per cent of the population depends upon agricultural activity for livelihood. But the food processing industries have more resistance towards recent technology which could improve the process. Considering this, an attempt is made to provide software as solution (SAS) using sensor grid for improving the quality of the products in various food industries.   The sensors transmit vital parameters related with quality through gateway to the grid where supervisor receives messages about the degradation of quality. A grid gateway provides middleware for pivoting the warning message regarding quality. This system can act as a mediator between the production line and the supervisors who are geographically separated.  Based on the received message, appropriate decisions can be made to improve and maintain the quality of the food products.
