ANTICANCER STUDY ON ALCOHOLIC EXTRACT OF CAESALPINIA CRISTA ROOT BARK EXTRACT
Abstract
Caesalpinia crista is traditionally used in the treatment of various disorders including cancer. The present study was aimed to investigate the possible anticancer activity of root bark of Caesalpinia crista. The anticancer activity of root bark of Caesalpinia crista was evaluated against the Ehrlich Ascites Carcinoma (EAC) Tumor model. The activity was assessed by using tumor volume, packed cell volume, mean survival time, increase in life span and hematological studies. Oral administration of alcoholic extract of root bark of Caesalpinia crista increased survival time and the life span. Hematological parameters which were altered by tumor inoculation were restored. Solid tumor mass was also significantly reduced. Present study establishes anticancer activity of root bark of Caesalpinia crista.Downloads
