Abstract

To evaluate the effect of Cetylmyristeolate (CMO) in carrageenan induced
acute arthritis in rats. The experimental study was evaluated on 18
(male/female) Wister rats weighing (150 – 200gms). 0.1ml of 1%
carrageenan was injected to induce arthritis, CMO showed marked
reduction of arthritic and inflammatory effect. CMO is an effective antiarthritic
agent at 500 mg/day/p.o. From the results of this study, it was
concluded that CMO, an acetylated fatty acid ester produced a
statistically significant effect in reducing carrageenan induced arthritis in
rats.
