Abstract

Cyclization of 2-amino-5,6-dihydro-4H-cyclopenta[b]thiophene-3- carboxamide (I) yielded 3,5,6,7-tertrahydro-4H-cyclopenta thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidine-4 (3H)-one (II). The compound (II) on reaction with POCl3 give 4-chloro-3,5,6,7-tetrahydro-4H-Cyclopenta thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidine (III). Reaction of (III) with 4-amino acetophenone give 1-[4-(3,5,6,7-tetrahydro-4H-cyclopenta-thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidine-ylamino)phenyl]ethanone (IV).
