Abstract

This development study aimed to design an inquiry-based digital module and find out the results of expert validation, appeal and effectiveness of its use in the History learning. The development model used in this study is 4D model by Thiagarajan. It was involving 96 high school students of class X in Jember Regency to test the appeal and effectiveness. The instruments used were questionnaires, tests, interviews, and documentation using qualitative and quantitative data analysis. The results of the study showed that: (1) the results of the validation of material experts were 75.7% with "good" eligibility criteria. Linguistic validation results were 80% with "good" eligibility criteria. Validation of media and design experts received 91% with "excellent" eligibility criteria. (2) The appeal of the inquiry-based digital module in the History learning was 90.39% with "very interesting" criteria. (3) The effectiveness of the inquiry-based digital module in the History learning of senior high school students of class X was 71.58% with a "high" level of effectiveness. Thus, the development of inquiry-based digital modules using 4D model has been able to increase the appeal of students and it can be used effectively in the History learning with the effectiveness value of 71.58%.
