Abstract

In 2017, Bangladesh has witnessed the largest influx of more than one million Rohingya ethnic minority group from neighboring Myanmar. The displacement of the Rohingya people was done through continuous discrimination, persecution, and targeted violence inflicted by the Myanmar military. It became an enduring burden for Bangladesh to cope with such a large population thus providing food, shelter, medication, sanitation etc. International humanitarian assistance has become a necessity to deal with the crisis. The paper makes an attempt to look into Australia’s involvement in humanitarian assistance and its geopolitical interest; economic, political and military ties with Myanmar. The study was done by analyzing primary and secondary data sources. Secondary data are collected from different books, articles, journals, published documents of governmental and non-government agencies and official websites.
