Systemic lupus erythematosis is a systemic autoimmune disease involving multi organ system.Patients with SLE have increased susceptibility to infections, most commonly tuberculosis with significant morbidity and mortality in endemic region. We report a case of young female presented with Breathlessness and fever. We diagnosed the patient was having S.L.E, and the cause of pleural effusion was due to T.B .It is challenging to diagnose TB in a case of SLE as they overlap with each other. Hence we publish this case as it will act as a guide in diagnosing T.B in S.L.E.
Background: A suture is a type of fibrous joint which only occurs in the skull or cranium. They are bound together by sharpeyâ€s fibre. A tiny amount of movement is permitted at sutures, which contributes to the compliance and elasticity of the skull. Sutures are junctions or line of articulation between adjacent bones of skull.
Methods: The present study was carried out in the department of anatomy on Adult North Indian 100 Skulls of unknown age and sex which were obtained from the osteology section of Integral Institute of Medical Sciences and Research & King George medical university. 20 damaged and diseased skulls were excluded from the study and 80 skulls were observed.
Results: In our study we observed 66 (82.50%) skulls who had neither complete nor incomplete metopic suture. 14 skulls (17.5%) had metopic suture either in the form of complete or incomplete. Complete metopic suture was found in two skulls (2.50%) and incomplete suture was observed in twelve skulls (15%). Among the incomplete metopic sutures, the incidence of linear incomplete metopic suture was 9/80 (11.25%), inverted 'U' shaped incomplete metopic suture was 1/80 (1.25%) and 'V' shaped incomplete suture was 2/80 (2.5%).
Conclusions: Knowledge regarding persistent metopic suture is essential in studying the radiographs to avoid misinterpretation as fractures. It is also useful in evaluating various medico legal cases.
The liver gets 25-35% of nutritional source from the hepatic artery. During routine dissection of a 70 year old male embalmed cadaver we found an anomalous branching pattern of CHA. It was found that the common hepatic artery trifurcating extra hepatically into GDA, RHA, LHA. Hepatic artery proper was found missing. In addition an accessory branch arising from the CHA to the SMA were identified and never been reported in the literature. CHA gave early branches into LHA and RHA, especially before entering into the porta hepatis. It was unusual from the classical text books, of which the RHA courses ventral to portal vein traversing to the right lobe and gives rise to two cystic arteries along with the branches to the right lobe and to the quadrate lobe of the liver. LHA courses superficial and medial to portal vein with its two segmental branches .The union of right and left hepatic ducts were not found extra hepatically. The knowledge of the multiple variant hepatic arterial patterns is essential for the surgeons and to the radiologists for the definitive surgical planning while encountering the procedures in and around the porta hepatis to avoid the injury to hepato biliary structures. Hence it was inconsistent as well as atypical the case has been reported.
Ariamycin (Doxorubin) is a potent antitumor agent used worldwide for the treatment of many cancers. It has been demonstrated to have a potential for initiating genetic events in non tumor cells in human and in animal models. Due to the importance of adriamycin in chemotherapy for the treatment of cancer, it is important to reduce its toxicity in normal cells. This objective can be achieved by concurrent administration of free radical scavenging agent such as antioxidants Phythanthus emblica fruit extract was used to evaluate its ability to reduce the induction of genetic damage (MNPCEs) by anticancer drug in bone marrow cells of male mice. Two experiments wee conducted. In the first experiment the animals were fed with 100, 250 and 500 mg/kg of PFE for two weeks to analyse the antimutagenicity of fruit extract on micronuclei incidence. In the second experiment Group I were given only saline, G – II animals were administred with single dose of 16 mg/kg adriamycin and G – III the animals were fed with 500 mg/kg PFE for two weeks G – IV were administered with 500 mg/kg for two weeks and adriamycin 16 mg/kg as single dose, one day before the last treatment. Results indicated that the treatment with PFE, co-concurrent administration with adriamycin reduced in the percentage of MNPCEs. No significant difference was observed with treated group of animals. Treatment of mice with PFE did not induce any significant variation in the incidence of MNPCEs as compared to control values. Therefore it is concluded that PFE may act as positive modulators of cytotoxic anticancer agents.
Sharp foreign body ingestions are reported variedly in literature and their management still lacks standardization. Though its presentation is quite common in psychiatric asylums, presentation to the emergency room as a primary case is challenging to the working residents. Here we present a case of razor blade ingestion by a 19 year old female following mental conflict. Abdominal x-ray revealed multiple small radio-opaque shadows. Patient was managed conservatively with regular monitoring without any endoscopic or surgical intervention. The experience of the authors of the nonsurgical and non-endoscopic management in absence of peritonism in sharp foreign body ingestion as a standard of care could be an avenue for the resources in the future.
A disease is a particular abnormal ,pathological condition that effects part or all of an organism or a pathological condition of a part, organ or system of an organism resulting from various causes ,such as infection, gentic defect or environmental stress ,and characterized by an identifiable group of signs or symptoms. Depending upon the way it is affecting on a person ,we classify diseases in to several types .They are communicable diseases, heriditotry diseases , life style diseases ,seasonal diseases ,deficiency diseases ,heart diseases etc.
Healthy life style factors are the primary prevention of coronary health diseases .Smoking, obesity, high blood pressure and physical inactivity are more prevalent among SEP(Socio Economic Position) person. Social inequalities in chronic disease morbidity and mortality will persist in the next decades (UN Report).
Non communicable diseases are now the leading cause of death around the world ,with developing countries hit fast ,according to a new report from the WHO.WHO says the rise in life style diseases can be blamed on tobacco use, poor diet and harmful use of alcohol.
A sharp rise in life style diseases such as heart problems and strokes coupled with a lack of adequate preventive health care threatens India’s future growth prospects.
Life style disease is a disease associated with the way a person or group of people lives. There are mostly common in developed nations where people are inclined towards eating un healthy food, having a sedentarily life style and an unhealthy habits like smoking and drinking alcohol. It can be prevented by making simple changes in daily routine and following a healthier way of living
Life style diseases or diseases of civilization are diseases that appear to increase in frequency as countries become more industrialized and people live longer. A disease associated with the way a person or group peoples lives. There are mostly common in developed nation where people are inclined towards eating unhealthy food, having a sedentarily life style and un healthy habits like smoking, drinking and taking alcohol.
They can include Heart disease, diabetic,Stroke ,Alzheimers,Cirrhosis,Asthma,Hyper tension etc. These are caused to a large extent by dietary changes in relation to socio economic and living environmental conditions. The stress of modern living is causing enormous a burden on health care globally. Poor eating habits sleep deprivation and secondary life style has contributed to growth of life style diseases. Hyper tension is associated with the incidence of some diet related non-communicable diseases such as stroke and coronary heart diseases .Life style diseases are different from other diseases because they are potentially preventable, and can be lowered with changes in diet, life style, and environment and by supplement with vitamin D.
According to WHO, world’s death from life style disease will double by 2015 unless all out effort is taken to combat them. Main causes /reasons of these life style diseases are Habits, Unhealthy lifestyles/Behaviors and Practices etc.It can be prevented by making simple changes in daily routine and following a healthier way of living.Few basic change includes quitting smoking ,avoiding alcohol, having a balanced diet that includes fresh vegetables and fruites ,regular physical activities and leading a stress free life.
Yoga is re-union of mind and body to the God. Depending upon the way in which it is practicing it can be divided into several types like†Khada yogaâ€,â€Dhyana yogaâ€, “Raja yogaâ€,â€Sidha yoga†etc etc.Normally Indians are practicing Khada yoga (hatha yoga). It is nothing but bending and stretching of the bodies. This is the only exercise which starts and ends with prayer to the God.Yoga practice imparting positive energy to us.It will give a energy through out life.
Yoga is a slow practicing exercise .One who practice yoga in hurry-burry is to have short temper in nature.30% of our bodies waste is going out through excretion and sweating and 70% is through breathing .Yoga is giving importance to breathing.
In this paper you can see how the life style diseases can control through yoga practices.
A single case study design was selected to evaluate the effect of sleeper stretch on the pain and dysfunction due to posterior capsular tightness in shoulder joint. The technique involves sustained passing stretching of posterior capsule in a prescribed position and exercise regimen. Pre and post evaluation of treatment was evaluated using different outcome measures. The study involved three phases, pre treatment phase, treatment phase and post treatment phase. The technique’s effect was to reduce the pain and improve function during activities of daily living. A structured exercise regimen of sleeper stretch was given to the patient for two weeks, 10 repetitions, and three sets for three times a day. The technique shown to be effective in treating patient with posterior capsular tightness.
