Abstract

A study was taken in Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu to identify the constraints faced by the women dairy farmers in dairy enterprise and their suggestions to improve the dairy enterprise. Data were collected from 300 women dairy farmers following multistage sampling procedure. The constraints were prioritized from the women farmers by means of using Rank Based Quotient (RBQ). The study revealed that low price of milk (RBQ value 80.34), poor availability of concentrate and mineral mixture in the village (RBQ value 72.33), high price of concentrate (RBQ value 70.04) were the major constraints. The respondents suggested that remunerative price for milk, concentrate feed formulation with low cost feed ingredients and developing drought resistant fodder verities would improve the dairy enterprise.
