Abstract

In modern societies, formal organisational structures such as practices, technical programmes, rules, new products and services are evolving in highly instructionalised environments. Knowledge Management is defined as a phenomenon, which represented a set of practices, which have been adopted by organisations over recent years.

Operating in the knowledge-based economy, one of areas that concern select industries in Vidarbha is the need to pursue effective knowledge transfer within an organization. Effective knowledge transfer will facilitate the conversion process of tacit knowledge to explicit knowledge and vice versa and this will eventually influence the learning process and organizational performance.

This research is expected to examine how knowledge is transferred within an company, the impact of organizational factors on effectiveness of knowledge transfer process, the relationship between knowledge transfer and company performance, and to suggest factors from an organizational capabilities perspective to enhance the environment for enabling effective knowledge transfer inside the organization.
