Based on the evolutionary game theory, this paper established the evolutionary game model of the decision-making behaviour between the government and automobile manufacturers, analyzed the evolutionary stability strategies under different scenarios, and provided a general model applicable to various situations. In addition, the numerical simulation method was used to analyze the future evolutionary direction of China's automobile market. The results show that the additional income of producing new energy vehicles, the stimulus level of governments stimulus policies, and the affordability of governments play a crucial role in the development process, and accordingly we put forward the corresponding policy recommendations.
