Background and aims: Optimal postoperative pain management leads to improved patient related outcomes (PROs),and satisfactionin the patients. It is important to understand the patients’ perspective as it helps in developing strategies for improvement. Attitudes and beliefs of patients are important because wrong attitudes and misconceptions can act as barriers in providing pain relief.Hence, a multicentre survey was carried out in the tertiary hospitals of Maharashtrato understand the attitudes,beliefs,experiences and satisfaction levels of patients with acute postoperative pain management. Also,comparison of responses was done to evaluate if Acutepain service (APS) leads to better patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Materials and methods: A 13-item questionnaire for patients, adapted from previous studies was used to collect data on patients’ experience of postoperative pain management.The responses of 179 patients were included in the study.

Results:The incidence of postoperative pain was 91.6% with 75.5% having moderate to severe pain.Despite this, 91.06% of patients were satisfied. Patients in APS set up had lower incidence of moderate –severe pain (44.23%) and higher satisfaction rates (100%).Although, 35.2% of patients pronounced that postoperative pain management should be done in best possible way, they also had many misconceptions, which were possibly reinforced by counselling done by health providers.

Conclusions:The findings suggest that the postoperative pain management is far from adequate even with an APS in place. Patient and health provider education needs to be stressed for better pain management and improved outcomes.

Purpose: To study overall incidence of adverse effects, highlight incidence of life threatening complications, identify unusual complication if any and possible measures to prevent them.

Materials and methods: This was a ten year retrospective study where in data related to patients at presentation and data related to complications was taken from regional cancer registry and was compiled.

Conclusion:Asparaginase is aessential  component of acute leukemia  protocols . The ability to rapidly identify and manage asparaginase-associated toxicity will help ensure patients receive the maximal benefit from asparaginase therapy.

Amyloidosis of the eyelid is uncommon and is typically associated with systemic associations. In contrast, amyloidosis of the conjunctiva is often localised with no other associations. We present a rare case of a 54-year-old gentleman with both cutaneous lid lesions and conjunctival amyloid with no systemic involvement. Biopsy demonstrated the hallmarks of amyloid and treatment has remained conservative. He remains at the department to be monitored for secondary glaucoma.

Retinoblastoma is the commonest childhood primary malignant intraocular neoplasm that is often characterized by spontaneous regression. They display photoreceptor differentiation. This study provides the clinical presentations and histological profiles of retinoblastoma PT JNM Medical college Raipur CG.. A retrospective study of clinically and histologically verified retinoblastoma from January 2010 to December 2011 was undertaken. The clinical and histological features were analyzed using the patient’s case folder and surgical pathology records. There were 20 patients, 9 males and 11 females (M:F ratio 1.7: 1), age range from 5½ months to 6 years with 23 eyeball tumours histologically confirmed retinoblastoma during the study period. Proptosis with chemosis was the most common clinical presentation .Bilaterality was 15% in this study. Enucleation and Exenteration combined with chemotherapy were offered to patients . A moderately differentiated type with extensive areas of tumour necrosis was the commonest histological pattern.
