STUDY OF OXIDANT MDA AND ANTIOXIDANTS SOD AND CATALASE IN PREGNANT & NON-PRENANT WOMEN
Introduction: Pregnancy is state of dynamic changes in body systems
resulting in increased oxygen consumption. Pregnancy is associated with
oxidative stress. Reactive oxygen species (ROS), are main causes of oxidative
stress (OS) which are generated constantly by external and internal stimuli.
ROS causes cellular injury by attacking the phospholipids of cell membranes
and reacting with polyunsaturated fatty acids commonly associated with
disorders of pregnancy. Aim of this study was to evaluate the level of pro-
oxidant and antioxidant in healthy non pregnant and pregnant women.
Materials and methods: Parameters of the oxidative status Malondialdehyde
and antioxidant Superoxide dismutase and Catalase was estimated in serum
of 35 non pregnant and 35 pregnant women in the age group of 20-40 years.
Results: Findings were, that there was an increase in Malondialdehyde levels
(p<0.0001) and a decrease in superoxide dismutase and catalase activities
(P<0.0001 and P<0.0001) in pragnent women significantly.
Conclusion: This study shows that there was difference in oxidative status
due to dynamic changes in body and circulation that are inherent. During
pregnancy oxidative stress is increased that can be fatal to the health of the
mother and the fetus.

Investigation Of Spiritual Well-Being Palliative Care Of Patients
Background: One of the indispensable aspects of the philosophy of holistic care,
and negative situations such as life-threatening illness, spiritual well-being, which is
defined as the search for a relationship with a divine soul, is a requirement that must
be met in order to maintain the existence of the individual. The patient's need for
social and spiritual well-being increases even more in cases of long-term treatment,
such as cancer, that reduce the quality of life. Determining and meeting the spiritual
needs of the individual in the difficult times of the crisis can be realized by
determining the spiritual well-being levels of the individuals and by providing the
individual spiritual care. This study was conducted to determine the level of the
spiritual well-being of palliative care patients diagnosed with cancer. Methods: This
is a descriptive study. The population of the study consisted of 124 patients
diagnosed with cancer who were hospitalized in the palliative unit between January
and August 2018 and were treated in two state hospitals operating on the European
side of Istanbul. The sample consisted of 111 people with voluntary participation
and communication. Personal Information Form and Spiritual Well-being Scale
were used to collect data. Data were evaluated by one-way analysis of variance (one-
way anova) and significance (t-test) of the difference between the two means.
Results: The total score averages from the spiritual good scale of individuals
participating in the Study were determined to be good with x = 4,15. In terms of
the level of education of Scale scores, only "Anomi" is significantly differentiated
between groups of age, with a total score of the scale, In the sub-dimension of
transcendity and the subdimension of "Harmony with Nature" according to the
variable metastasis (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Spiritual Well-being has a positive effect
on the healing process of individuals with impaired health. It helps individuals who
have a crisis in life threatening diseases such as Cancer to cope with this crisis and to
provide spiritual well-being in the sense of life. In This process, spiritual care
initiatives by healthcare professionals can be transformed into a part of the healing
process and the spiritual goodness of the individual can be increased. Further
research in This area is projected to contribute to the richening of the relevant
literature in Turkey.

AN INVESTIGATION OF THE COMPASSION LEVELS OF HEALTH PROFESSIONALS CANDIDATES
The aim of this study is to determine the factors affecting the level of compassion and
the compassion levels of professionals candidates. The population of this study
consisted of 1382 students from Nutrition and Dietetics, Child Development,
Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nursing and Health Management. “Demographic
Information Form” which was developed by researchers in the literature and
Compassion Scale developed by Pommier (2011) and also adapted to Turkish by
Akdeniz and Deniz (2016) which able to measure compassion towards others was used
as a data collection tool. In the study, 34.7% of the professional health candidates were
in the Nutrition and Dietetics Department, 33% were 20 years old and 78.7% were
women. The mean score of the Compassion Scale of all students was 4.22 ± 0.24. There
was a statistically significant difference (p <.05) between the scores of the first grade to
the last grade. A statistically significant difference was found in terms of indifference,
seperation, mindfulness, disengagement sub-dimensions and general compassion scale
scores. It was determined that compassion levels of health professionals candidates
differed in terms of gender, class and income status. In light of the findings obtained, it
can be explained in the lessons as a subject of compassion for the awareness of the
emotions that will affect the feelings of compassion of the students of the health sciences

Functional and Aesthetic Evaluation of Finger Injuries
Finger injuries are one of the common problems presenting in any plastic
surgery emergency and are often neglected [1]. Here we share our experience
of treating finger injuries in the setting of a tertiary care centre in
government sector in India. We managed 50 patients in our hospital and did
various surgical (split thickness skin graft, flaps) or non-surgical procedures
on the patient’s according to the patient demand and situation. Healing by
secondary intention was best for small wounds of less than 1cm2,in terms of
cosmesis and function. Local advancement flaps proved better for larger
wounds.
