Purpose of the Study: Personal hygiene is the initial step towards
good health and to protect from disease. It is generally recognized that
childhood is the appropriate time for children to learn about hygiene. It
plays a major role to promote healthy life. This study was performed
to measure the existing level of knowledge and practice related to
bathing, oral hygiene, trimming nails and washing hair regularly and
hand washing. Most common disease occurring in school children
namely diarrhoea and its causes, ill effects, treatment is also discussed.
Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted
on 415 students of government and private schools of Guntur
district. All the students were given a prepared questionnaire (pretest).
The intervention was given by lecture, PowerPoint presentation
and demonstration for 30 minutes on personal hygiene and health
related conditions due to poor hygiene.. Again, the same questionnaire
was given (post-test). Results: 415 students were included in our study
. The knowledge of the students regarding general body cleanliness
was 92.7% in government school and 85.7% in private school during
post test as compared to 43.6% in government school and 59.2% in
private school during pre-test. Knowledge about eating less food in
diarrhea was positive in 59.1% of students in government school and
later increased to 81.8% during post test evaluation. Only 31.8% of
students in government accepted that diarrhea can kill children (pretest)
while 88.2% (post-test) children were aware of this fact. Most of
the students were found washing their hands before meal. Conclusion:
Majority students were practicing hygienic methods after the study.
Evaluation of the personal hygiene among school children must be done
periodically.

surgery in ovarian masses.
Methodology: This prospective cohort study was conducted in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at
King George Medical University. 65 women with ovarian masses underwent laparoscopic surgery based on
gynaecological examination and ultrasonography.
Results: 65 women enrolled for the study were managed by laparoscopic cystectomy, oophorectomy or salpingo
oophorectomy. Only 4 cases were converted to laparotomy due to technical difficulties. Cytology and histopathology
of all cases confirmed benign ovarian diseases including follicular cysts, hemorrhagic cysts, endometriomas, benign
ovarian tumors and borderline ovarian tumors.
Conclusion - A thorough gynaecological examination with abdominal or trans vaginal ultrasonography is the
cornerstone to decide about mode of surgery in ovarian masses.

Background: Effective pulp capping cements with good antimicrobial properties is a requirement to prevent propagation of deep dentinal caries to healthy pulp. Previously, the studies on antimicrobial efficacy were performed using commercially available strains. The present study was carried out using the samples collected directly from deep dentinal caries. Two different methods direct contact test (DCT) and agar diffusion method (AGM) of anaerobic incubation were assessed to predict the antimicrobial efficacy of the dental cements. Aims: To test, compare and gauge 2 anaerobic methods- DCT and ADM to detect the antimicrobial efficacy of the cements. Materials and Methods: Carious material (n=25) from deep dentinal caries. Glass ionomer (GIC Fuji II), CaOH2 in form of Dycal, mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and Zinc oxide eugenol (ZnOE) were tested for antimicrobial efficacy using DCT and ADM. Results and statistical analysis: The anaerobes could be grown with both the techniques (100%). Contamination was detected in 12% of cases on DCT; MTA plates were contaminated the most. Lack of diffusion of cements across the agar was seen in 12% of cases of ADM. Both the techniques showed ZnOE to be more effective followed by MTA, Dycal and GIC with a p value of >0.001 and was statistically significant. Conclusion: DCT is an extensive procedure and selective colonies could be grown. ADM is easy to perform and allowed the growth of mixed culture. The disadvantages of DCT were contamination and prolonged procedure, whereas; of ADM were poor diffusion of the cements across the agar.

The biopsy was suggestive of PNET with immunohistochemistry correlation. He was offered only supportive treatment due to the poor performance status of the patient. Very few cases have been reported in the head and neck region outside the skull and mandible and this is the first case of PNET histology reported in the posterior third of tongue. If non metastatic lesion, the management protocol would include multimodality treatment comprising of  chemotherapy, radiation and surgery based on the location.

Sebaceous carcinoma is a rare aggressive malignant tumor derived from the adnexal epithelium of sebaceous glands. Sebaceous carcinomas are gener­ally divided as ocular or extraocular locations. Very few cases of extra ocular sebaceous carcinomas have been reported till date.  Hereby, we report a 62-year-old female diagnosed with sebaceous carcinoma on the gluteal region with recurrence, and was treated surgically with wide local excision. The extra-ocular site is rare and high degree of suspicion is required and sebaceous carcinoma should be considered as one of the differential diagnosis.
